NOTICE OF PLANNING APPLICATION – Marin GARP (Target Store) Sign Review
The Marin County Planning Division is requesting that organizations and individuals interested in the Marin GARP (Target Store) Sign Review application provide us with written comments on the project by May 2, 2016. The applicant for the project is John Dewes, representing Target Corporation, and the property is located at 180 Donahue Street, Marin City further identified as Assessor's Parcel 052-490-06.
The applicant is requesting sign review approval to install three internally illuminated “Target” store signs on the building formerly occupied by the "Best Buy" store, which is located at the Marin Gateway Shopping Center. All three signs would consist of the signature red Target Store “bullseye” logo as follows: Sign #1 is proposed to be located on the front (east) elevation of the building. The internally illuminated sign would be 12 feet in diameter and located in the central portion of the arched building facade located above the main entrance to the store, approximately 25 feet above grade; Sign #2 is proposed to be located on the side (south) elevation of the building. The internally illuminated sign would be 6 feet in diameter and located on the upper portion of the building, approximately 20 feet above grade; Sign #3 is proposed to be located on the side (north) elevation of the building. The internally illuminated red sign would be 6 feet in diameter and located on the upper portion of the building, approximately 20 feet above grade. Two additional smaller signs are also proposed to be installed on the front elevation of the building, a 24 inch diameter internally illuminated green “Starbucks” sign, and a 44 square foot internally illuminated red “CVS pharmacy” sign.
Note: Target has contracted with CVS to handle all of their pharmacy operations. There is no plan for the existing CVS or Starbucks to leave but one wonders what this competition will do to them.
